Here at The Sistahood we know how hard it can be
to
meet new people, especially in the big cities like London, where
despite the dense populations in the UK it's still possible to feel
completely isolated.

Ladies
days out
If you're looking for a ladies evening out, please check out our
calendar here . If you want to attend any of these events,
or you wish to receive information on these events by e-mail, please e-mail us at ladiesdaysout@sistahood.co.uk and we'll hook you
up!!
Please don't be shy - all the ladies are very friendly and lovely
people and will always try and make any newcomers feel welcome!

In
their own words, they're a bunch
of fun-loving, hard-working young black men. Whilst they have
different backgrounds, interests, occupations and faiths, they all
share a common bond of friendship. They often organise
various events and linkups and it's a good place to meet new people.
It's not just for guys: women are welcome on the site and at the
events.
Check out their forums too! But remember, if you subsequently
choose to show up at events, you'll no longer be anonymous, so be
careful what you post in there!
General
chat (forums/chatrooms)

Massive forum
with apparently more than 25,000 members! If ever you wanted to
disappear into an enormous community and post anonymously in a forum,
this is your chance. The forums are very active, and you're sure
to find topics you can relate to in there.
Don't forget we also have our own forums right here on the sistahood, so feel free to post in there too. We'd love to hear what you have to say!
Dating
UKafro
In their own words: UK Afro is the fun place to meet black people in
the United Kingdom for networking. It's also a great place to meet
singles who are looking for relationships. And there's absolutely free
chats on some days every week!
Pan-Africanism

Ligali (pronounced lee-ga-lee) is the African British*
Equality Authority. They are a Pan African Human Rights Organisation that
challenge the misrepresentation of African people and culture in the
British media. Their remit is to actively campaign for cultural,
economic, political and social justice on behalf of the African
community.
Ligali has some serious forums, have a look if you're interested in
this type of thing, and try and keep an open mind if pan-africanism is
new to you.
The Sistahood recognises that not all of these sites are for everyone, but we do feel
that however you feel about the things they stand for, there's always
something to gain from studying alternative points of view.
There are many other worthy sites we have not mentioned here, but
please send us your recommendations and if appropriate we will add them
(see below).
If you have any
other suggestions, recommendations etc, please write about it in our
forums or e-mail us at ideas@thesistahood.co.uk and we will mention it
somewhere on our site.
Also, if you have any major complaints about
any sites that we have or have not recommended, please let us know so
we can review whether or not we should continue to recommend the sites.
Please remember we are not responsible for the content of external
sites, even if we have recommended them or provided a link.
